India’s blockbuster film The Wedding Dates has been given a new lease of life as a Hollywood-backed film project starring Ranbirs Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, the director has announced.
The film, which has already won Oscars for best picture and best actress, is set to premiere on October 7 in the UK, where it will open in December.
It will also be shown in other markets across the world, including India, China, Indonesia and the Philippines.
In an interview with the Times of India, Kapoor said he had been looking for a way to use the film to get ahead in his career and found the idea of using the film as a vehicle to further his career came up.
“I was looking for an idea to make a movie, I found this idea through my friend, Anil Kapoor.
He told me, ‘I think you could do this’, so I went for it.
The next day I called up the producer of the film, Akshay Kumar and asked him to take me on,” he said.”
We started from a screenplay.
So, the first part was in three days.
We then got a script and we got to work.
After that we went on to make the second part, which was shot in two weeks.
And finally, the third part was shot the next day,” he added.
Kapoor said the film will have a “beautiful cast”, but it was important for the audience to be aware of the “financial constraints” of the project.
“The movie will have two parts.
The first part is a romance film, the second one is a comedy.
The script is in English, so the film is very beautiful.
But, for the film lovers, we will try to do something different,” he noted.
