AUSTRALIAN indie filmmaker Michael Fenton has been announced as the new director of the upcoming film “The Big Short,” which was directed by Steven Spielberg.
“I’ve known Steven Spielberg for many years, and we’ve been friends for a number of years,” Fenton said.
“We’re really excited to work with him and to have him as the director of ‘The Big Single,'” he said.
Fenton is best known for directing the film “Blue Valentine,” which earned $4.8 million at the box office, and he’s currently shooting the sci-fi thriller “The Revenant.”
He’s currently working on the comedy “Fargo” and was in negotiations for the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel “The Sandman.”
“The Great Gatsby” is expected to open on November 4, 2020, and is directed by “The Godfather: Part II” helmer Michael Mann.
